The Cadena Cultural Center is excited to host Día De Los Muertos 2024 on Thursday, October 24th from 5-8 p.m. at the Quad (in front of Library)! Join us for a free evening of music, food, activities, ofrendas, vendors, and performances as we celebrate our ancestors. We are reaching out to kindly invite you and your students to host an ofrenda for our community. 

ABOUT OFRENDAS 

Traditionally, ofrendas are altars created by families to honor their loved ones and provide them with what they need on their journey. Every ofrenda is different but includes the four elements: water, wind, earth, and fire. Water is left in a pitcher so the spirits can quench their thirst. Papel picado, or traditional paper banners, represent the wind. Earth is represented by food, especially bread. Candles are often left in the form of a cross to represent the cardinal directions, so the spirits can find their way. Due to this event, participants hosting an ofrenda will have to make modifications to comply with NOCCCD policies and procedures.
