March 25, 2021 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Dear Fullerton College Family,
Throughout the past year and especially in recent weeks, we have witnessed a steady increase in violence, threats and rhetoric against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. Although these acts are not new, this recent wave of incidents has directly affected many members of our campus community. These incidents of hate and racism are unacceptable and contrary to our campus values.
We thank you for your commitment to treat our fellow faculty and staff members, and our students with love and compassion, and we urge you to join us and other members of our campus community in standing for our Asian American and Pacific Islander community and standing up against anti-Asian violence and rhetoric.
We would like to share some resources with our campus community to help support learning about this important issue:
Anti-Asian Bias Tools and Resources (University of Chicago Asian American Resource & Cultural Center)
Increase in Anti-Asian Hate Incidents and Crimes (OC Human Relations)
Asian Americans Advancing Justice, Orange County
We also encourage you to join a virtual event coordinated and led by Fullerton College professor and Honors Program coordinator, Jodi Balma:
Fullerton College #StandforAsians
