Coming together for a common purpose!

Reach for Excellence is a unique mentoring, career and leadership development program that assist students with identifying and achieving their goals using the African American/Black experience.
Students complete career and personal assessment with a counselor, participating workshops, seminars, field trips, and internships. Additionally, student are matched with a mentor for support, guidance, and information about careers or work. Students can also document leadership skills and community service on the college transcript that can be used for scholarships,  university personal statements and employment.

  • Do you learn by doing?
  • Want  to learn about careers?
  • Are you ready to develop new skills?
  • Need support, guidance, or direction?
  • Project R4E: You decide...We assist!
MENTORING GOALS
Life is comprised of a series of tasks and events which allow opportunities  to both lead and follow. R4E was designed for both. Become a part of R4E mentoring program today!

"Surround yourself yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher"                      Oprah Winfrey

R4E mentoring program uses a three tier mentoring model. Based upon career and personal assessment outcomes, students are placed with a Fullerton College faculty/staff, community leader or peer mentor. Students and mentors arrange to meet a minimum of twice a month during the academic semester.

  • Experience valuable networking.
  • Gain knowledge, insight and techniques to succeed.
  • Build dynamic professional relationships.
  • Participate in workshops, seminars and field trips.

It takes the commitment of a semester to experience the opportunity of a lifetime.

  • To enhance the development of basic skills and proved strategies for improving academic performance.
  • To encourage successful course completion and increased transfer rates.
  • To introduce students to campus resources so they can use them to their best advantage.
  • To help students develop effective communication skills so that they may find their voices and achieve a sense of belonging, confidence and self-esteem.
  • To develop and enhance students' cultural awareness of the Black experience and history through courses, events and activities that involve the Black community!
